Internal MAKEUP Test

I ask my intern Ysa a few months ago, to go through a random list of Eco Makeup brands and give me her opinion on branding, price and look.  The reason I wanted her opinion is because Ysa is presently going to school to become a Makeup Artist.  On her first day of interning for EcoDivas I had her watch THE STORY OF COSMETICS …and by the look on her face she had no idea what was really in her makeup.  She also wasn’t aware of any of the Eco Cosmetics options, aside from hearing about Burt’s Bees.

I’d also asked her if her school taught her about the Skin Deep Cosmetics Database or Campaign for Safe Cosmetics?  And to my dismay they do not.  I also asked if she’d heard of the organization Teens Turning Green? And this was news to her too.  So, I contacted the Teens Turning Green Organization to see if it would be okay to share their Dirty Thirty Toxic Chemicals to look for in cosmetics list.  Before reading their list I was only privy to Lead, Formaldehyde, Parabens, and a few others chemicals…which had already altered my view of how irresponsible the Cosmetics Industry has been.  If there was an FDA approval system for the cosmetics industry, things would be VEEEEEEERY different.

So, based on Makeup Artist student Ysa’s research, this is what she came up with:
